I had a whinge back in May about deciding on a school for Jack and I thought I should update in a less whingey manner.
Our top 2 contenders ended up being put on the “no” pile which was ever so slightly stressful. But we visited a school we hadn’t considered. Then filled in the enrollment forms in the carpark.
In the end, we mostly relied on our gut instinct. How the school felt to us, the principal’s answers to our questions, the overall vibe of the school. We’ve chosen a smaller school, with a focus on a strong community with parents. The principal was passionate and inclusive, and in fact, the only one who really made an effort to engage Jack and ask him questions. It felt right.
Now the decision has been made it’s amazing how much more relaxed I am. I was really not looking forward to Jack going to school. I’m excited for him now, it’s going to be an exciting time for him and I have no doubt he will thrive just like he has at kindergarten this year.
All we have to worry about now is how Lew will cope without his best mate. Thank goodness he starts kinder next year!
