Twinlets – 6 months

These sweet little cherubs are 6 months old today. 6 months. Seriously, 6 months! 6 months in they’re busy hitting milestones and showing their sweet little personalities. And even though this is the 3rd and 4th time I’m seeing these “firsts” they delight and enthrall me just as much as when my first babe was doing them. I had thought that some of that joy and wonder at the miracle that is pregnancy and babies might have worn off, I love that it absolutely has not!

Oliver is my little pixie, with his fair skin, wispy hair and delicate little features. He tends to be fairly serious, studying the world around him but he is ticklish with a beautiful giggle that melts my heart. He is still the better sleeper, although he isn’t doing as many of the 11 and 12 hour stretches as he used to (darn it!). He loves to look at himself in the mirror. In the last couple of days he has mastered rolling from his back to his tummy despite his pesky arm and shoulder that insist on getting in his way. And he loves to blow raspberries, thinks he’s very clever!

Sebastian is our squishy monster! He delights in being looked at or spoken to, often you just need to glance at him for his face to dissolve into grins. And he does the super cute massive grin then bury his face before looking at you to see if you’re still there/watching. He loves to suck his thumb. He is proficient at rolling and uses a combination of rolling and wriggling to scoot a little way off the playmat, generally in the direction of his big brothers. He loves to snuggle and has been busted rolling ON to Ollie before nodding off to sleep. He’s trying his darnedest to crawl much to my disgust. You’re just a wee baby Bas, slow down!!

Both babes adore their big brothers, they love watching what they’re doing and get all excited when they’re being smothered in brotherly love. In return Jack and Lewis are a-maz-ing with them. Amazing. So gentle and loving. We have had a couple of incidents where Lewis tries to carry the babies, but they’re closely supervised. Honestly, I’ll take those kinds of incidents where they’re just trying to love them rather than trying to hurt them!

How are mummy and daddy 6 months in? Fabulous! Our relationship is stronger than ever and I’m just plain HAPPY. The twins are absolutely the best things that could have happened to us. They have taught us so much, still teach us. They fill our hearts and home with joy. I am so in love with my beautiful family of 6, I count my blessings every day.
